Mark P. A. Hudson, Senior Vice President and Attorney at Shuttleworth & Ingersoll, P.L.C., spoke during two sessions at the Iowa SHRM State Conference on Thursday, September 27, 2018, at the Marriott in Coralville, Iowa. Mark participated in a panel to discuss the direction of Future Ready Iowa, an initiative to build Iowa’s talent pipeline. The session, titled “The Impact of a Future Ready Workforce in Iowa” also featured panelists Kathy Leggett and Steve Gilbert.Later that afternoon, Mark gave a presentation for a session he called “The Nightmare Employee,” described as: On a daily basis, HR professionals and managers face difficult decisions. Some business, some personality, some personal. With this reality, this session will work through some common types of nightmare employees. Through interactive case studies, this session will require audience input and brainstorming to address some common problematic workplace behavior. From the disruptive rule follower to the sophomoric salesperson, this session will engage the audience with practice advice to address and mitigate the risks posed by the nightmare employee.Mark’s next speaking engagement is at the Future Ready Iowa Regional Summit for Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, taking place on November 13 at the Kirkwood Community College: Linn County Regional Center in Hiawatha, Iowa.
