Attorney Caitlin L. Slessor has been elected a member of the Sixth Judicial Nominating commission, a group that nominates judges to serve Linn, Johnson, Benton, Iowa, Jones, and Tama counties. The position is a six-year term. When there is an opening on the local bench, the job of the commission is to interview applicants and select two finalists, one of which will be selected by the Iowa governor. The 11-person volunteer panel is made up of five laypeople appointed by the governor, five local lawyers elected by their peers, and is led by the district’s most senior judge. About Caitlin L.
