Attorney Joseph Miller Selected to American Health Lawyers Association Leadership Development Program

Attorney Joseph M. Miller has been selected to the Leadership Development Program (LDP) for the Fraud & Abuse Practice Group of the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA).The AHLA is a national education organization devoted to legal issues in the health care field, with each practice group selecting up to 3 participants in the LDP each year. According to the AHLA, a practice group facilitates the creation of substantive health law content for AHLA members, provides a forum for dialogue among colleagues sharing similar interests, and promotes membership engagement. Practice group leaders help to advance the association’s strategic plan by developing and delivering educational programming and publishing on specific health law topics.In his role as an associate attorney at Shuttleworth & Ingersoll, Joseph represents companies and individuals in matters relating to business and healthcare. Joseph has experience in the development of compliance programs, planning and training for HIPAA compliance. He developed the Business Associate Toolkit as a way to help businesses navigate HIPAA compliance as service providers to health care entities.Joseph also has extensive experience with Stark and anti-kickback analysis, CHOW analysis for business transactions, reviewing employment and recruiting agreements, and even facilitating the legal work behind mergers and acquisitions, securities and venture capital, and corporate formation (including non-profits).Joseph is a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Law where he earned his J.D. with honors, and a graduate of Brigham Young University, were he earned his B.A. with University honors.
