Coralville, Iowa—A team of Shuttleworth & Ingersoll attorneys presented the pre-conference workshop to an audience of approximately 200 Iowa employers for the 2016 Iowa Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) State Conference at the Coralville Marriot.
Terri Davis, Mark P.A. Hudson, Kristymarie Shipley, Jonathan Landon, and Mark Zaiger spoke on a wide range of topics, including updates to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), benefits issues, workers’ compensation trends, and minimizing risk in an employment relationship.
Mark P.A. Hudson, who has served as the Legislative Director for Iowa SHRM since 2010, noted, “Talking with employers from around the state is always rewarding. Changes to employment law can have a monumental impact on how employers and human resource professionals work to support their employees. Helping employers plan for changes to the law makes everyone’s lives easier.”
The theme of the conference was “Tackling HR – What’s Your Game Plan” and was organized by Sara Deich, SPHR and Amy Larsen, PHR.
The conference continued on Thursday, September 22, and Friday, September 23, with over 50 sessions and speakers from around the state.
